COMPANY EMPLOYEES

Flood Brothers, Inc. currently employees over 220 full and part time employees. We are the only relocation company in our market that is committed to putting only company hired employees on every jobsite. By implementing an advanced hiring, screening, and training policy for our employees, we can ensure the quality of service that our customers have come to expect. Temporary employees, usually in the form of “Day Laborers”, are an inefficient labor resource because of their lack of skill and motivation. Their inexperience will also require more supervision and absorb valuable time from the Project Manager. These inefficiencies will result in higher billed hours, strained or missed deadlines, and unacceptable damages to the content and facility.

STRICTLY COMMERCIAL FOCUS

Most movers in our market only do commercial moves as an afterthought and their experience in commercial relocation rarely makes up more than 15% of their moving projects. Only Flood Brothers concentrates 100% commercial and government relocations. Therefore, you are guaranteed a Project Manager who is skilled in the disciplines of commercial moving and who will be able to handle any event regarding your project.

MORE THAN A MOVER

TRAINING PROGRAM

Our Team starts with our Extensive Training Program. Here at Flood Brothers we have developed our own in house training facility. This facility is 6,000 square foot office mock up equipped with 13 training stations including its own mock up elevator (adjustable to simulate different cab sizes). Some of the other hands on and classroom training includes systems and case good furniture as well and conference rooms, server rooms, loading dock, art work, and building protection. We train all of our Team members here. We have beginning and advanced training curriculum taught here every week for Mover 1s, Mover 2s, Furniture Installers, IT Technicians and Project Managers.

First, every Mover 1 is trained on the basics and have to pass a comprehensive exam before ever stepping foot onto the jobsite. Then they are eligible for advanced classes and field training to step up to Mover 2. Next, they are able to attend training classes that enable them to step into even more advanced roles of particular disciplined trade skills of Level 1 IT Technician, or Level 1 Furniture Installer. After extensive experience in the field and in the classroom they can be recommended for advancement to Level 2 IT Technician or Level 2 Furniture Installer by the Operations Manager.

Finally, for those who have distinguished themselves in leadership we provide the most advanced training into the position of Task Leader. They will prove themselves here daily to be wholly reliable and knowledgeable of Flood Brothers operations until they are promoted to Project Manager. The title of Project Manager is the pinnacle of field operations on the Flood Brothers team. These are leaders that make Flood Brothers the leaders in our industry.

CERTIFICATION

After passing exams from the attended classes and upon completing the required field training for that level of training, each member is officially certified and remunerated to fit their new position.

Our trainers never stop promoting the fundamentals of success to their classes.  Even the artwork that decks the walls of the Training Center seeks to inspire with a little humor.  Our employees and visiting guests always have fun checking out the latest Training Room Poster.  So, we thought it would be fun to put some of them on the Website.  Please enjoy and feel free to be inspired!

OPERATIONS TEAM

Mover 1

Our Mover 1 position is for all new hires. Before these individuals are allowed on a job site they are required to pass not only a background check and drug screening, but also a 100 question examination and a performance evaluation course. Upon completion, these individuals are monitored by a personal COMMERCIAL RELOCATION_img_16“mentor” over a period of time until they are deemed ready for advanced training and promotion to Mover 2.

Mover 2

Each mover has been instructed on the best methods of preparing, loading and transporting product such as commercial furniture and computer equipment to maintain the integrity of the product upon arrival at it’s new destination. This level of training has dramatically increased our efficiency on the job-site; when the crew arrives, each member of the move team knows his role and immediately sets about getting his part done.

Since Flood Brothers is strictly a Commercial Relocation company it seemed only natural that the next phase of relocation services be in the IT area. We have some of the most talented personnel who constantly work at keeping up with next level of business technology to meet the demands of our customers.

COMMERCIAL RELOCATION_img_19These individuals are skilled communicators who oversee the movers to maximize efficiencies, save time and effort, and ensure that projects stay on schedule. Their distinctive shirts make them instantly recognized to newer onsite workers. Recognized for their leadership skills, Task Leaders are responsible for executing specific tasks and leading teams. All of our PMs and task leaders have Nextel 2-way radios and Blackberries for heightened communication on the job-site.

Quality Control Manager – Navy and Red

COMMERCIAL RELOCATION_img_21Flood Brothers carefully controls the quality of each move by planning the project out in detail, training the team that will execute the project, providing proper leadership to complete each task demanded and, finally, to manage the overall efirehatxecution of the project’s goals. Despite all these careful measures, there is still room for human error.

That is why we implemented the “Quality Control Manager”, as the ultimate project management position. This person is also known as the “Fire fighter”. He is called the Fire Fighter because he is on the job site to put out fires or prevent them from happening in the first place. The reason he wears the unique red and navy uniform is so he can instantly be recognized by our crews as the problem solver.

Right? Right!

OUR METHODS

Planning for Success

One of the many advantages of partnering with Flood Brothers is our expertise in move management. We will work with your company’s move coordinators to assemble and prepare your employees for their upcoming move. On larger projects we offer move orientation meetings in which we go through your move process step by step, answering questions to erase any ambiguity about what they will need to do in preparing for their move. It is our goal to eliminate obstacles before they come up.

Labor Efficiencies

On Time and On Budget
Flood Brothers has a two part approach in staffing a project. The first is geared towards generating the optimum crew size to accomplish the move with little or no downtime during the process. We also manage the schedule of our crews to ensure that each project is staffed with well rested employees, so movers do not arrive from a normal business hour job and work until they are exhausted late at night. In this way, we minimize damage, maximize performance, and generate a fun and positive experience for our staff and our clients.

More Labor Equals Less Money
The second element in our approach is to staff the crew with enough labor to meet or exceed our client’s expectations. The way we accomplish this is simple; we use only full time, trained employees as opposed to temporary labor. Flood Brothers realizes the importance of completing each phase of the project within the time limits specified, and untrained employees would make that impossible.

Because Flood Brothers has the South’s largest staff of company employees in our industry, we are never short-staffed and will almost never charge Over Time. By properly staffing the project you should not have to pay Over Time, which is paying 50% more for a team that is 50% less effective. Also, Flood Brothers avoids using “Temp Labor” on a job which most often results in downtime and project delays.

Advantages of Having Permanent Employees

Flood Brothers has discovered that the initial costs of insurance, taxes and administration are significantly higher using a staff of permanent employees. However, the long term advantages to both Flood Brothers and your company are dramatically increased. Below are some independent studies that display the mistake in using temporary employees that are almost always day laborers who are completely untrained, unreliable and poorly motivated.

Most moving companies are primarily residential movers (85%-95%) and they must rely on temporary or day labor for their workforce. Therefore, they are forced to use a large number of unskilled laborers to accomplish their moves.

  • The higher skilled “Permanent” employee requires 50% fewer laborers to accomplish the same tasks than that of the lower skilled “Temporary” workers.
  • It has also been proven that trained workers will accomplish these tasks in a shorter period of time resulting in fewer hours billed.
  • It is important to note that fewer hours demanded on a laborer equals less fatigue resulting in more efficient use of time on the job and less damage from tired and rushed workers.
  • Additional savings are obtained because the more experienced laborer will require less supervision resulting in fewer of the more costly Project Managers onsite.
  • Another tactic often used in an attempt to reduce the man hours when utilizing lower skilled laborers is by increasing the number of Supervisos. However, this usually results in costly delays resulting from conflicting management styles.
  • Even more common with any scenario that is heavily dependant on labor supervision will ultimately require the uncompensated efforts of the client’s Facility Manager for its success. In other words, they will rely on the Facility Manager to take time out of their day to do the Project Management for the mover.

OUR PROCESS

Purging

Paper Only Purge BinTrash can cost your company money and resources. Many companies today are in need of purging unneeded documents, boxes, furniture, and other waste. These items take up valuable real estate within your office space. This wasted space could be used to produce revenue and also eliminate the need to purchase or rent additional real estate. Too often, companies move their refuse from one location to the next, wasting money to pay for moving and storing items that should have been disposed of prior to the move.

Flood Brothers offers a purging service to help on your company’s next purge campaign. We bring out bins (available in multiple sizes) and strategically place them throughout your facility. Your employees simply fill the bins as needed and we come and pick up the bins when they are full. We’ll provide the service that meets your day-to-day needs, plus same-day emergency services are usually available to handle unexpected overflows. All items collected are integrated with our company’s landfill disposal services to help control costs and ensure that your waste will be disposed of in a manner that meets or exceeds all local, state and federal environmental regulations.

PACKING

Packaging BoxesIn the ongoing effort to perform the most efficient relocations, Flood Brothers implements the newest state of the art

moving equipment and methods to execute your projects. We also utilize GREEN products whenever possible in the use and procurement of moving equipment and cardboard boxes. The Flood Brothers’ methods of moving content is based on using the right equipment for the right job.

We utilize established ratios of labor, trucks and equipment that have been proven to add efficiencies that will lower the overall cost of an office move. These ratios are only possible because of our unique training program which establishes uniform standards and a true team. The “Team” concept is exclusive to Flood Brothers because we are the only company in our industry that has all of its own employees. Therefore, we are able to invest in training and mentoring programs that promote employees according

to their competencies and desire to advance within the company. Better trained teams increase efficiencies and lower costs by decreasing the number of laborers and truckloads needed to perform the move, hence reducing the overall cost of the relocation process.

PROTECTION (Building and Content Protection )

Complete building protection used on every move

Whether it’s internal churn or dock to dock moves, Flood Brothers leads the industry in protecting your building. We use the most advanced systems and products to exceed all building protection requirements. We protect your floors with Carpet Shield, Neoprene runners and Masonite wherever necessary.

We protect your walls using polypropylene wall boards that are 250 times stronger than the standard wall protection. This system will also eliminate damages associated with putting tape on the walls. We also protect your entryways and corners using Corner Guards and Door Jam Guards. Beyond protecting your building’s elevator interior cab, we also protect the elevator’s entryway using the Matador System.

Building Protection

LOADING /UNLOADING (Dock Management)

Dock ManagementAll Dock availability and procedures will be obtained from the building management at origin and destination as soon as the project is awarded.

Flood Brothers operations management will contact the Building Manager to make sure that the elevator repairman is on call before the move starts. We will also obtain his number and the building rules upon being awarded the project.

If there is no elevator protection from the building management office, Flood Brothers will provide protective hanging pads to protect the walls. If required we will also have Masonite and padding to protect the cab floors. Our crews are trained to be wary of moving parts and not to over pack the elevator. We value the elevator, not only for its own costs, but just as importantly it is the quickest way to shut down the project.
