“GREEN MOVES” is a program which implements methods to reduce negative impacts on the environment while also lowering costs associated with conventional moving and installation services.
What is “GREEN MOVES”?
Not too long ago, the word “Green” conjured up images of tree hugging activists protesting the evils of commercialism. Not surprisingly, these images made companies reluctant to adopt “Green” practices. It doesn’t matter if you accept Global warming, melting ice caps, or other issues touted as “inconvenient truths”. Today, companies implement sustainable practices because of the efficiencies they bring to the bottom line.
...Sustainable Efficiency means
achieving the same results while
using fewer resources and less labor.
GREEN MOVES BENEFITS
Sustainability is vital to the success of any organization, as well as their reputation. That’s why Facility Managers are increasingly implementing “GREEN PRACTICES” into their buildings’ design, construction and daily operations. Now, FLOOD BROTHERS’ GREEN MOVES program provides the opportunity to incorporate these same sustainable efficiencies into their employee relocation management.
FINANCIAL BENEFITS
- Increased productivity with more efficient moving methods
- Fewer building damages by using our innovative building protection products
- Lower energy and waste disposal costs
ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS
- Reduced resource consumption
- Reduced landfill use
SOCIAL BENEFITS
- Promotion of good citizenship as a company
- Reduced employee stress by implementing GREEN MOVES’ more efficient packing/unpacking systems
ENERGY CONSERVATION
Flood Brothers uses alternative fuels whenever possible, as another means to add efficiency and reduce dependencies on non-renewable resources. Bio-diesel is an alternative fuel produced from domestic and renewable resources such as vegetable oils or animal fats. Because it is biodegradable, nontoxic, and essentially free of sulfur and aromatics, it meets the clean diesel standards established by the EPA and DOT.
The only alternative fuel to have completely passed the health effects testing requirements of the Clean Air Act. The use of Bio-diesel results in a substantial reduction (50-80%) of ozone depleting, smog and cancer causing pollutants compared to emissions from diesel fuel. As well as cleaning the environment, Biodiesel has solvent properties, and it actually cleans your injectors and fuel lines as it travels through the fuel system.

WASTE DIVERSION
GREEN MOVES manages waste generated by moving processes by utilizing the following programs:
- Off Site Storage & Asset Management to maximize the life of existing inventories
- Shredding Program
- Electronic destruction
- Pre-Move and Post Move Purge move Campaign

GREEN CONTENT PROTECTION
The GREEN MOVES philosophy of “Less is more” is proven to be true when using its methods and materials to pack and protect your company’s office furniture and content. 98% of all the materials used on a certified GREEN MOVE will be reused over and over for years before being recycled. These efficiencies go straight to the bottom line.
GREEN BUILDING PROTECTION
As an alternative to standard disposable building protection, we use sustainable products that provide better protection, go up in a fraction of the time and can also be used repeatedly for years before being recycled.

WASTE DIVERSION MATRIX
Flood Brothers can assess your waste issues prior to your move and develop a plan reduce environmental footprint of your company’s waste. Below is a sample Matrix that accurately estimates the potential reduction of landfill space in total tonnage weight and cubic volume.

CERTIFIED GREEN MOVE
We can then certify these findings for your company’s ecological portfolio. This can be essential whether your goals are to demonstrate good stewardship to your clients or document these efforts in order to achieve LEED Certification.
